Job Description

The Role

Reporting to Head of Project Finance, the Project Finance associate will support the origination, structuring and execution of project and structured financing transactions to raise debt for Potentia Energy’s projects in Australia and support the execution of derivative transactions to manage financial risks (e.g. interest rate, exchange rate) of Potentia Energy and its subsidiaries, while achieving strategic business and financial results. The role will also involve portfolio and loan management activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Origination of project financing structures to develop competitive bid proposals based on the optimisation of capital sources;
  • Structuring of project finance transactions and namely:
    • Prepare & review financial models of proposed financial structures;
    • Lead the due diligence processes and liaise with external advisors (market, legal, tax, technical, insurance, model audit);
    • Support negotiation of financing agreements with financial institutions;
    • Liaise with other internal departments and advise on bankability issues to ensure a smooth process towards financial close;
  • Origination of corporate financing structures;
  • Interact with potential financial partners and stakeholders (banks, shareholders, private credit, etc.);
  • Managing relationship with banks, financial institutions and keeping track of the latest trends of financing in the market;
  • Managing existing financing agreements including delivering cost to complete certificates, compliance certificates, waiver requests, bank guarantee issuances, etc; and
  • Work on efficient financing structures and re-financings to increase the value of existing projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or post graduate quantitative studies.
  • Minimum 3-6 years of experience in the field of project finance from asset management firms, banks, big 4, financial institutions, investment funds, large corporates.
  • Exposure to at least two full non-recourse project finance transaction cycles.
