Job Description
The Role
The Valuations Analyst will be a member of the Valuation Team reporting to the Senior Valuation Analyst, responsible for supporting in the development of an economic-financial evaluation of strategic initiatives, M&A transactions, and business development opportunities.
The ideal candidate must be organized, well-articulated and capable of working on multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the financial evaluation of investments with proper methodologies (mainly Discounted Cash Flow and Capital Asset Pricing Model) in order to define the main KPIs of the projects / strategic initiatives (Internal Rate of Return, Net Present Value);
Take a proactive role in the Project Development Optimization phase;
Supporting the Business Plan process undertaking the modeling and tracking key KPIs in line with shareholders expectations:
Advising on matters such as the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers and capital financing strategies by conducting financial investigations, examining operating costs and organizations’ / projects’ income and expenditure, forecasting cash flows and undertaking valuation with proper methodologies (multiples, Discounted Cash Flow, comparable companies and transactions analysis through the implementation of benchmarking), ranging from early-stage development portfolios to operating asset valuation;
Analyze and critique investment assumptions provided by other departments or external providers, making sure of the robustness of the final assumptions of the investments;
Support the risk analysis and risk management of projects under development in terms of financial impact;
Perform sensitivity analysis based on different scenarios;
Identify and measure the impact of risks of investments to the value to shareholders;
Responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance of analysis including but not limited to forecast financial statements, necessary to appraise the cash flows and financial risk of capital investment projects and support the Investment decision-making process;
Manage advisors that support financial modeling for purposes of bidding projects in tenders, or raising project financing in collaboration with the Finance team;
Support financial planning, provide insights into cost performance and drive initiatives to streamline and improve the financial pro forma and stay abreast of tax updates, alternative tax and business structures and shifts within the industry.
Desired Skills and Experience
Selection Criteria
A business degree with a focus on Finance. Professional designation (CPA or MBA) is preferred.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in Finance/Valuation, with exposure to project financing appraisal techniques and preparation of financial models for review by project finance lenders.
Experience in the renewable industry preferred, exposure to diverse renewable energy technologies (wind, solar, battery storage) will be an added advantage.
Strong analytical skills and high level of comfort with Microsoft office, especially Excel (building financial models, navigating macros, ability to navigate multi-tab valuation models and identify / correct errors, etc.).
Ability to quickly read, review, analyze, and summarize large amounts of information, such as project information and market research.
Project management skills, including organization and the ability to control multiple processes and tasks simultaneously.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to clearly and concisely present written and oral information to Management and the customer.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
